Social Media is about community, not just about socialising.
The definition of Social is: “Of or relating to society or its organization”, which is what Social Media is about – a media for society to use.
As a business, what you do want to do is to create a community that keeps people wanting to come back, that keeps your customers engaged. A café or local shop would be thrilled if people called in to find out what events were on, to see what the latest products are, to interact with staff and other customers. This is what you want your Social Media to be – a place that your customers want to come to.
You also need to think about how your customers will interact with you – are the on Facebook? Twitter? LinkedIn? Pinterest? Or are you best to contact them via a newsletter? What kind of things do your customers want to see and hear about?
There are a lot of different platforms and different ways to use them, the trick is to find out what is best for you and your business. And if you need some help – give us a call.
